External modem will not work due to call-waiting interference

Cause:


Call-waiting is turned on. With call-waiting, when another party dials in, the phone line beeps. This interrupts the local modem and disconnects the line.

Solution:


Temporarily disable call-waiting when dialing with modem. Precede the telephone number with: *70
NOTE: If the above code is not correct, contact your local telephone company for the correct code to disable call waiting.
